Michelle Bridges (personal trainer of the Red team from the Biggest Loser) is seeking information about her team members.

From the biological perspective, Michelle Bridges is able to identify the quality of their fitness by conducting cardio fitness tests, to test the strenght of their heart rates and how far they are able to be pushed. She is also able to measure their Body Mass Index (BMI) and attain their history, to see past health risks from parents that could be passed down from parent to child. The biological perspective therefore considers how physical structures, such as the brain and central nervous system, affect human behaviour. The biological perspective looks at anatomical evidence, or eveidence from the body, to construct hypotheses about human behaviour.

  1. From our biological perspective, I believe she should be able to test her team members' heart rates.

  2. I think she can also conduct some cardio fitness test, body mass index test and learn from their history and genetics in order to gather further information to assist her in understanding her team members.

  3. We are also limited as we are not able to determine what their behaviours and mindset are like in order to fully understand how they will commit to the hard training she has in store for them.

  4. Although this is helpful, we cannot give her imformation about the members' living conditions and relationships formed.

  5. From the cognitive psychology, Michelle Bridges would be able to gather data such as how her team members think, how they cope with problem solving, memory of tasks and procedures, and finally their level of good decision making. This would assist her in understanding team members and allow her to help them reach their full potential.

  6. As a behavioural Psychologist I would love to input my views in regards to my area of study. Michelle can use behavioural psychology to help she collect and analyse different information about how her team members react to different stimulus. She would also collect information about how they respond to different situations. Michelle would collect this information by conducting a number of different tests and then record how they reacted to them. :)

  7. The biological perspective of psychology does sound interesting, but having studied the social-cultural perspective of psychology, Michelle Bridges should gather some information about her team members. She should ask them questions on their level of education, background, about their past habits, family or who they live with and also on their cultural background. Some of these factors could be what is influencing her team members to be not eat properly or exercise. She would then know more about them and would find it easier to help them with their issues.

  8. From the Socio-Cultural perspective, michelle could gather data from her contestents by anaylsing the way the contestents behave in a social group as well as influences from their culture.

  9. By closely studying the behavioural persepective, Michelle Bridges works very close with her team members, she will find out alot about them behaviourally. By conducting various experiments this will help her to gain a better understanding of each individual, by using different routines and fitness reigemes and see how they respond (either positively or negatively) to the tests and their respose rates. Will they adapt to the routines or struggle.
